COLOUR ANALYSIS is back on trend!  It is huge on social media, and people worldwide are trying to find out what colours look good on them.  Colour is my passion.  It is one of the most incredible things that we interact with daily, but we rarely take the time to think about it.  It is amazing how colour can change how you look, feel, and come across.

Have you ever thought about why you choose certain colours to paint the rooms in your house or the colours you are drawn to for cars, flowers and clothes?  Well, subconsciously, you are choosing the colours that work for your skin tone.  You will have colours in your wardrobe that work for you and those that don’t.

Having a colour analysis has many benefits -

  1. Shopping becomes less stressful since you will only be looking for the colours that suit you.

  2. You will save money only by selecting the colours that suit you.

  3. All the colours work together for your capsule wardrobe.

  4. You will feel good wearing the right colours, which helps you feel confident.

  6. You can choose colours from your palette to help you present yourself the way you wish to be perceived.

Here, we see Paula having a seasonal colour analysis. The aim is to discover her three colour characteristics. We begin by applying fabrics in different colours and tones underneath her face to determine whether she is best suited to warm or cool colours, light or deep, or bright versus muted. Once we have discovered her three colour characteristics, which in Paula’s case are cool, deep and bright, we relate this information to a season - Spring, Autumn, Winter, or Summer.  She will then be shown a wonderful collection of colours that will look fantastic on her. We also discuss the correct hair colour, make-up, and accessories.

In this example of a colour analysis, the mustard colour is too warm for her skin, reflecting a false yellow tone against her face.  The hair looks brown, pulling away from her natural colouring.  Overall, Paula looks quite flat. The cool, deep, bright blue colour suits her skin tone much better; she looks fresh. Paula’s eyes are clearer, and the blue complements her natural hair colour. Paula has beautiful colouring; she is a Winter. This means that she will look fabulous in primary, bold, icy, steely colours.
